In June 2016, two more projects led by teachers of Yuexiu are approved as the Social Science Study Projects funded by Ministry of Education, which places the university ahead of most private universities in China in terms of academic achievements. In 2015, Professor Liu Hongying from College of Chinese Language and Culture and Doctor Wu Xuezhong from College of English made the breakthrough by having their projects approved by National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science to be funded by National Social Science Fund of China .  

The two projects approved this year are the General project Manchu People’s Study of Confucian Classics in Qing Dynasty (Project No.16BZW090) directed by Doctor Li Guilian from College of Chinese Language and Culture and the Youth Project Transformation of Studies on Du Pu Poems in Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties (Project No. 16CZW026) directed by Doctor Zhang Huiling of the same college .

In recent years, Yuexiu has laid great emphasis on the conduction of high-level and advanced scientific research to meet the requirements of President Xi in his speech given at the National Philosophy and Social Science Work Symposium. For such purpose, Yuexiu has invited experts to give speeches, set up fund for academic researches and publication of research works and introduced other inducements to encourage teachers to join forces in research and improve scientific research ability. These are main reasons for the great progress it has made in academic works.
